Cylinder checks are built into annual servicing — there's no need to book them separately, and a care plan spreads the cost across the year instead of paying in one go. If a fault turns up on the day, it's quoted using the published repair rates. Routine services run January to November — December is kept clear for breakdowns.

Cylinders, answered.

Is the cylinder included in a heat pump service? +
Yes — the annual service covers the heat pump and the unvented hot water cylinder together for £228 inc. VAT (£190 +VAT). Most other companies charge extra just to inspect a cylinder; here it's included.
What does an unvented cylinder service check? +
Expansion vessel pressure, the pressure relief and safety valves, cylinder temperature and controls, and overall hot water performance and recovery time.
Why is my hot water not as hot as it used to be? +
Start with where it's happening. If it's one tap or one shower, it's almost always the valve inside that outlet — nothing to do with the heat pump at all. If it's the whole house, it's more likely the heat pump settings, a fault on the heat pump itself, or a blending valve. Worth knowing: the heat pump makes all your hot water on its own — it never needs the immersion heater to do it. The immersion is only there for the legionella disinfection cycle.
Do unvented cylinders need an annual check? +
Like anything mechanical, it's worth having checked — and an unvented cylinder has safety valves on it, which is the real reason. The other reason is the warranty. Manufacturers require an annual service, and that applies to the hot water cylinder as well as the heat pump: if it hasn't been installed and maintained to the correct standards, the manufacturer won't honour the warranty. It's checked as part of every annual service here, so there's nothing separate to book.
