Servicing & repairs
What a service costs. What a repair costs.
£228 inc. VAT for the annual service — heat pump and hot water cylinder, one visit, a photo report you keep.
Repairs: £150 inc. VAT (£125+VAT) covers the callout and the first hour’s diagnosis, then £51 inc. VAT (£42.50 +VAT) per half hour. It stops at £360 inc. VAT for a half day (£300+VAT) and £660 inc. VAT for a full day (£550+VAT) — those are ceilings the meter bumps into, never charges added on top.

Replacing a boiler? £7,500 or £9,000.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays £7,500 as standard. It pays £9,000 if you’re replacing an oil or LPG boiler and you’re off the mains gas grid, in England — that uplift came in on 1 July 2026.
Which means two houses in the same village outside Tetbury can be £1,500 apart on an identical heat pump, purely on what they burn now. If you’re on oil or LPG, it’s the higher one.

December stays free for emergency callouts.
Servicing and maintenance run January to November, and December is deliberately left empty. It is the month heat pumps get leaned on hardest and the month people can least afford to wait — so the diary is kept free, rather than filled with routine visits booked months earlier.
December: £198 inc. VAT (£165+VAT) for the callout and first hour, with labour billed at time-and-a-quarter — against the usual £150.
Plus and Premier care plans don’t pay the December premium.
You pay the standard callout rate all year round — including the one month everyone else pays a quarter more.
Conservation areas
144 of them. Yours may well be one.
Cotswold District has more conservation areas than any other district in England — 144 at the last count, and Cirencester alone is split into four. Most people don’t discover they’re in one until something comes up.
Being in one rarely stops a heat pump going in. The rule is about siting rather than permission — the unit can’t go on a wall that fronts the road. Working out which wall that is, where the pipe runs make sense, and the sound check to the nearest neighbour’s window is what the survey is for. Listed buildings are a different matter again and do need consent. Boundaries can be finer than people expect — one side of a street in, the other out — so it’s worth checking your own address on Cotswold District Council’s map — or Tewkesbury Borough’s if you’re up at Winchcombe — and we’ll talk it through at the survey.

Protected landscape, real planning considerations.
The Cotswolds' National Landscape (AONB) status and the sheer number of listed honey-stone buildings mean siting a heat pump here is rarely a case of "anywhere will do" — screening, visibility and sometimes listed building consent all need thinking through, ideally before installation day, not after. It's a genuinely lovely part of the patch to work in, but it rewards getting the planning right the first time.
The Cotswolds are also full of holiday lets and second homes, which changes how servicing gets scheduled — where possible we'll work around guest changeovers rather than a fixed weekday slot, and every visit comes with the same photo report a landlord or agent can pass on for their own records.
