Heat Pump Servicing in Gloucester.

Gloucester is home base — city centre, Quedgeley, Hardwicke, Barnwood, Longlevens, Tuffley, Kingsway, Brockworth and Churchdown, all covered. What the service costs, which grant figure applies to you, and when you can book — all published below.

Worth knowing before you ring anyone

Four things most Gloucester households have to ring round to find out.

All of it is published, so you can work out where you stand before you speak to anybody — us included.

Servicing & repairs

What a service costs. What a repair costs.

£228 inc. VAT for the annual service — heat pump and hot water cylinder, one visit, a photo report you keep.

Repairs: £150 inc. VAT (£125+VAT) covers the callout and the first hour’s diagnosis, then £51 inc. VAT (£42.50 +VAT) per half hour. It stops at £360 inc. VAT for a half day (£300+VAT) and £660 inc. VAT for a full day (£550+VAT) — those are ceilings the meter bumps into, never charges added on top.

Same figures in the middle of the city as out past Hardwicke — there’s no travel charge anywhere in the area we cover. The drive is our problem, not your bill’s.

New installations

Replacing a boiler? £7,500 or £9,000.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays £7,500 as standard. It pays £9,000 if you’re replacing an oil or LPG boiler and you’re off the mains gas grid, in England — that uplift came in on 1 July 2026.

Which means two houses in the same lane on the edge of the city can be £1,500 apart on an identical heat pump, purely on what they burn now. If you’re on oil or LPG, it’s the higher one.

When you can book

December stays free for emergency callouts.

Servicing and maintenance run January to November, and December is deliberately left empty. It is the month heat pumps get leaned on hardest and the month people can least afford to wait — so the diary is kept free, rather than filled with routine visits booked months earlier.

December: £198 inc. VAT (£165+VAT) for the callout and first hour, with labour billed at time-and-a-quarter — against the usual £150.

Plus and Premier care plans don’t pay the December premium.

You pay the standard callout rate all year round — including the one month everyone else pays a quarter more.

Orphaned systems

If the company that fitted it has gone.

It’s a common situation and not a difficult one. Whoever installed your heat pump, and whether it’s in a Quedgeley cul-de-sac or a farmhouse out past Brockworth, it can go on our books — and an annual service is what keeps the manufacturer’s warranty valid, whoever fitted it.

Everything the service covers is set out in full on the annual servicing page.

Based here, not just covering it.

Being based here means Gloucester jobs are rarely a special trip — which keeps costs down and makes it easier to fit in a same-week visit.

Real jobs

What the annual service actually involves.

Not a quick look and a sticker. The unit, the water, the system pressure and the pipework — all checked and recorded on every visit.

A Vaillant aroTHERM outdoor heat pump unit against a rendered wall
The outdoor unit, checked over on a visit.
A neatly insulated plant wall with magnetic filter, expansion vessel and lagged pipework
The magnetic filter, doing the quiet work of catching muck before it reaches the pump.
A system pressure gauge being read during a heat pump service
System pressure, read and logged on the day.
Insulated flow and return isolation valves at the base of an outdoor heat pump unit
The valves that let us work on the unit without draining the whole system.

FAQs

Gloucester, answered.

Do you cover all of Gloucester? +
Yes — city centre, Quedgeley, Hardwicke, Barnwood, Longlevens, Tuffley, Kingsway, Brockworth and Churchdown are all covered as standard, being closest to base.
How quickly can you get to a Gloucester breakdown? +
Being based in Gloucester means a breakdown here is often same-day or next-day, subject to how the diary looks.
Do you take on Gloucester heat pumps of any age? +
Yes. Gloucester has had just as many heat pumps going in over the years as any other area, so the city has systems of every age — some just fitted, some in for a decade or more. Whatever the age and whoever fitted it, it can go on the books: a newer system needs an annual service from the first year to keep the manufacturer’s warranty valid, and an older one that’s been overlooked can be picked straight back up.
What’s actually inside your heating water — and why does it matter? +
Open the filter on a well-kept system and you’ll normally find a light dusting of metal caught on its magnet — that’s the filter doing its job, catching the little bits every heating system sheds before they reach the heat pump. Sometimes we find more than we’d like: plumber’s paste from the day the system was installed, still going round because the pipework was never cleaned out properly. Debris in the water stops the pump circulating as it should, so the heat pump never gets the flow rate it needs. The worst case is when those particles lodge in the narrow waterways inside the heat pump’s heat exchanger — once that blocks, the heat pump can’t pass its heat into the water, and a blocked heat exchanger can be catastrophic. It’s why the water check and filter clean are part of every annual service.
